Nastazja Ciupa
Winner of the G7/2022
In the exhibition titled My non-places, the artist explores the phenomenon of transience and emptiness through the gray blocks of old mines and abandoned Silesian factories that remain in the surrounding area. Over time, these gray masses are transformed by the imagination into weighty forms and structures, creating new visual solutions in both space and time.
It will be open to visitors until the 30th of October.

My research interests and artistic practice are in the areas of human’s perception, especially the internal visual aspects of perception and interpretation of our reality where space and time are two basic dimensions. These aspects are enlightened, which provoke senses and meanings. Po-views, cultural cadres, subsequent images, are subject to layering, deconstruction or giving new reality. Through non-obviousness, fragmentation, transience, I want to get the post- -view of the meanings of emptiness. Images of large heaps, old mines, forgotten factories and gray blocks in time have gained new forms in my imagination creating numerous creations, structures where the recipient always has the impression of being overwhelmed, emptied, burdened with the weight of forms and structures that I create in my paintings or graphics.
