Welcome to the Székely National Museum!
Please be informed that by entering the museum you accept the terms of the Visitor’s Regulations and acknowledge and comply with the restrictions and warnings set by the institution.
All visitors may visit the museum exhibition halls and the museum garden at their own risk.
Rules for visiting the building and the garden
→ No knives, cutting tools or anything that could endanger the safety or security of the artifacts, visitors or staff may be brought into the building.
→ Live animals (except assistance dogs with distinctive signs) may not be brought into the exhibition areas or the garden.
→ It is forbidden to bring into the exhibition areas any object or backpack of such size as to endanger the integrity of the exhibits or disturb other visitors. These objects may be placed in the cloakroom before the start of the visit.
→ It is strictly forbidden to bring food and drink into the exhibition areas and to consume them.
→ It is forbidden to bring into the museum building and its surroundings any material that could cause fire or explosion.
Protection of the Artifacts
→ Do not touch the artifacts or display cases. In the exhibition spaces, several objects are exposed and should not be touched, as touching them may damage their condition.
→ It is strictly forbidden to cut down plants in the museum garden or damage garden equipment. It is also forbidden to touch the artifacts in the garden.
Closing time
→ The cash desk closes half an hour before the museum closes. Therefore, visitors are allowed to buy tickets up to half an hour before closing time, after which time no visitors will be admitted. This means that visitors can buy tickets until 15:30 on weekdays and 13:30 at weekends.
→ There may be cases the museum applies different opening hours from the usual opening hours. In these cases, it is obliged to inform visitors about these on its website, in the press and on its social media platforms.
Guided tours
→ Guided tours are available by appointment only, for a fee, provided by the museum’s trained guides. To request a guided tour, please contact office.sznm@gmail.com or call +40267312442. Priority for guided visits is given to groups who have registered in advance using the contact details provided.
Visits with minors
→ All visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the Museum.
→ It is the responsibility of the parent or accompanying adult to ensure that the child protects the integrity of the exhibits and uses the exhibition space and its furnishings as intended. The parent or accompanying adult is responsible for the physical safety of the minor and for their behaviour in the museum.
→ In the case of groups attending museum educational activities, the group leader (teacher, parent,) is responsible for ensuring that the underage visitors in their care comply with the museum regulations, and for the physical safety of the underage visitors.
Security measures, camera system
→ Please note that a video surveillance and image recording system is installed in the building and garden to ensure the safety of artifacts, equipment, visitors and museum staff. By entering the museum building, individuals consent to being recorded by the security camera system and to the processing of these recordings and their personal data (image) by the museum for security purposes for the minimum period necessary and in compliance with the rules on data protection.
Taking photos and videos
→ Photographs and videos may be taken in the exhibition spaces, but these are for personal use only and may not be used for commercial purposes. The use of flash is prohibited for the protection of artifacts.
→ Photographs and videos of visitors may be taken during events and activities at the museum. By purchasing a ticket, visitors consent to the publication of these images on our museum website and social media channels.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in the entire museum, including the museum garden.
