Diploma
Exhibition of Diploma Works by Graduates of the Institute of Fine Arts in Sfântu Gheorghe
The Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, Hungary, through its Institute of Fine Arts in Sfântu Gheorghe, presents a selection of works created by fifth-year students of the Painting and Sculpture programmes, who are exhibiting their creations to the wider public of Sfântu Gheorghe for the first time. The exhibited works were produced within the framework of the first university-level art education programme established in our city and include the students’ final Master of Fine Arts diploma projects.
This inaugural exhibition offers us the opportunity to witness the first flight of the first generation of artists trained here. Visitors will have the chance to discover the paintings of Kincső Finta and Timea Székely, alongside the sculptures of György Kövér. These young artists are the first to present to the general public the results of the art education programme launched in Sfântu Gheorghe five years ago. Within this programme, artist-educators from the University of Pécs, together with local and Transylvanian visual artists, have transformed the talent of the first generation of students trained here into profound artistic knowledge, and their inspiration into creative power. The three emerging artists offer a glimpse into three distinct and unique artistic worlds, united by a shared sense of local belonging coupled with a universal outlook.
The opening of the exhibition Diploma will take place on 12 June 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the exhibition hall of the Arcade House in Sfântu Gheorghe. The guests will be welcomed by Mihály Vargha, Director of the Székely National Museum, and Dr. habil. Csaba Hegyi, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Pécs, Hungary. The exhibition will be officially opened by Dr László-Attila Hubbes, lecturer at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania and at the Institute of Fine Arts in Sfântu Gheorghe.
